Panto Time! - posted 14th Dec

Pupils from Reception to Year 6 enjoyed a fun-filled afternoon at the panto yesterday, when they went to see Aladdin at the Romiley Forum. It was a fabulous performance, with lots of fun and laughter as children took advantage of the opportunity to share a trip out with their friends. Thank you to the staff and helpers who looked after the children.

Inn-spectors - posted 12th Dec

Our Year 1 and 2 pupils excelled themselves yesterday, with their performance of 'Inn-spectors'. Dancing, singing, acting - the children were all wonderful and provided us with an enjoyable beginning to our Christmas performances. We are looking forward to the final performance this evening and to our Junior Carol Concert and Nursery and Reception Nativity next week.

Storyteller Laureate - posted 12th Dec

Children from Nursery to Year 6 were drawn into the art of storytelling this week when we were visited by the first 'Storyteller Laureate', Taffy Thomas MBE. Taffy whisked the children into a world of talking animals and Christmas magic. Thank you to the NEU teaching union who kindly sponsored this event.

Christmas Fair - posted 3rd Dec

Thank you to the PTFA for organising such a fabulous Christmas Fair on Friday. It takes a huge amount of time and energy to pull off events like this and the money raised makes a real difference to your children. It was great to see so many of you attend and we raised an enormous £1,200 for PTFA funds. Thank you to everyone who donated prizes, volunteered to man stalls and of course those of you who turned up to support the school.

Visit from Pudsey - posted 30th Nov

On Friday morning we welcomed a special visitor to school in order to receive our cheque for £171 raised during Children in Need. The “real Pudsey” made a guest appearance in our assembly where he presented the school council with a certificate in recognition of the school’s fundraising efforts. Then he made a special visit to infant classrooms to say a special “hello”.

Parents' Forum - posted 29th Nov

A small number of parents attended the meeting on Wednesday for our Autumn Parents' Forum. Discussions centred around the new website, the Home/School Agreement, the new Home Learning Policy and recent actions we have taken through responding to 'Parent Voice'. Thanks to the parents who attended and gave us valuable feedback about how we can improve the school for all. The notes from the meeting can be found in the Parents section of the website.

hearing dogs cheque

Hearing Dogs visit - posted 26th Nov

This morning, we were delighted to receive a special visit from Christine and Jessie, her hearing dog. Christine told us all about the work that these amazing hearing dogs do to help their families and taught us a song in sign language. The School Learning Council presented her with a cheque from the money they raised on Charities Day. We look forward to Christine and Jessie becoming regular visitors to High Lane in the future.

Christmas baubles

Competition Winners! - posted 22nd Nov

A huge congratulations to Hannah in Year 3 and Faye in Year 5 for winning top prizes in the Stockport Totally Local Christmas Competition. As runner-up, Hannah wins a family ticket to the Light Cinema in Stockport and, as overall winner, Faye gets to treat her whole class to a private screening of a film in the New Year! The competition received over 600 entries and was judged by the Mayor of Stockport. All entries will be displayed in the Light Cinema over the Christmas period.

Phonics Evening - posted 15th Nov

It was lovely to welcome our Reception parents to the phonics evening last night. Miss Royle talked through our High Lane approach to teaching phonics and showed examples of the types of activities the children take part in in school.
