What is our intention for Foreign Languages at High Lane Primary School?

Our Foreign Languages curriculum aims to embed the linguistic skills of communicating effectively through reading, writing, listening and speaking in another language. Through our FL curriculum, our children will deepen their understanding of language learning and attain transferable skills, which will allow them to learn new languages in their future lives. Our children are encouraged to participate with increasing confidence and fluency and be curious about the similarities and differences between their own and other languages.

Our Spanish curriculum aims to provide children with the opportunity to:

• Allow children to understand and respond to spoken and written language from a variety of authentic sources
• Provide opportunities for pupils to speak with increasing confidence and fluency - continually improving the accuracy of their pronunciation and intonation
• Foster an interest in language learning by introducing children to other languages in a way that is enjoyable and accessible to all pupils
• Develop transferrable skills which will allow children to learn new languages in the future
