What is our intention for Art and Design at High Lane Primary School?

At High Lane Primary School we aim to enable and encourage children to explore and experiment using a wide range of media in order to develop the sense of their individuality as an innovative creator, whilst at the same time understanding that this allows them to be a successful part of the Global community. We develop children’s understanding of colour, form, texture and pattern and their ability to observe, analyse and evaluate their own work and that of others, using appropriate vocabulary. We encourage our children to explore art, crafts and design activities, in which their natural creative abilities can be develop. Children are inspired by the work of great artists, craft makers and designers and understand the historical and cultural development of their art forms.
