OfSTED

Ofsted last visited our school in May 2023. High Lane Primary School continues to be a 'good' school. The report highlighted that:

  • 'Pupils are happy and safe'
  • 'Pupils behave well and are respectful towards others'
  • 'Pupils learn about respectful relationships and the importance of looking after their mental well-being'
  • Pupils 'benefit from a wide variety of enrichment activities'
  • The school offers 'an ambitious curriculum' where 'pupils with SEND receive effective and targeted support so that they can access the same curriculum as their peers'

The area that was highlighted as a next step is leaders and those responsible for governance should ensure that they refine areas of the curriculum further, in a few subject areas and in some areas of the early years, to ensure that smalls steps of knowledge are identified in order for children to reach end points and remember more over time.

Ofsted visited our school in March 2018. They judged High Lane to be a 'Good' school with a 'strong culture for learning permeating through all aspects of the school day'. The report praised our pupils, citing their positive behaviour as a strength of the school.

The areas that were highlighted as next steps were that leaders and those responsible for governance should ensure that:

  • we build upon the effective actions already taken to enhance the progress that pupils make in mathematics and writing by the end of key stage 2
  • we ensure that the website is compliant and effectively monitored, ensuring that it remains so.
